A sideboard is a low storage unit with doors and sometimes drawers. A centerpiece of the dining room or living room, it is making a strong comeback in current interiors.

A good sideboard combines generous storage and aesthetics. In solid wood for a rustic look, in metal and wood for industrial, lacquered for contemporary.

Mistake: an overly imposing sideboard that obstructs passage. Measure the wall and leave room on both sides.

There are several forms of sideboards: low sideboards, high sideboards, enfilade sideboards, corner sideboards, or buffets. Choose the shape that best harmonizes with your space and decor style.

Place the sideboard along a wall, preferably facing the dining table. Leave enough space around it for easy movement. You can also install it in a corner to optimize space.

The most common materials for a sideboard are wood, metal, and glass. Wood brings warmth, metal an industrial feel, and glass brightness. Choose the material that best matches your decor.

You can install direct lighting on the sideboard with spotlights or wall sconces. You can also highlight it with indirect lighting such as string lights or table lamps.

You can place decorative objects on your sideboard such as vases, plants, photo frames, or candles. Avoid overloading it to maintain a clean and balanced decoration.
